Board hears progress on LED conversions, HVAC priorities and field irrigation

Staff updated the board on capital projects including LED lighting conversions in classrooms, roof and HVAC work at the high school tech areas, fencing quotes, flooring and parking-lot repairs, and expanded irrigation for the athletic field.
Facilities staff described LED conversions and other capital upgrades across district buildings, showing before-and-after photos for classrooms and noting more even lighting with the new fixtures: "these are the new LEDs, and you can see how well they're they're lighting the room," the presenter said.
The capital work list also includes painting, carpet replacement in Canyonville, replacement or recoat of flat roofs at Cottonberry, fencing and gate quotes for the high school campus, and a multi-phase plan to upgrade HVAC units (several rooftop units have aged out). Staff described trenching and expanded irrigation inside the track and repairs at Myrtle Creek front landscaping; the city has agreed to help with some parking-lot repairs adjacent to district property.
