Officials raise egress and use concerns about Forbidden Llama plans

Land use staff reported that Forbidden Llama's submitted plans comply with zoning but have prompted life‑safety and egress concerns raised by other departments. Tom said other departments — notably Fire and Building — are reviewing the plans for egress and safety and staff is seeking a final determination before approving the project.

Gary from Fire said he has "problems with the 2nd means of egress," noting the stairs and exit discharge to the public way may not meet code and that he intends to involve the State Fire Marshal to resolve questions about exit discharge to the public. Committee members also discussed on‑site security practices and whether the establishment's operations resemble a nightclub; Tom said that under land‑use rules the business is currently treated as a restaurant but some behaviors suggest nightclub activity and that staff may raise the issue with the council and director of land use.
