Superintendent Dr. Yanni told the board that the district will enter Phase 3 of its bond projects next week with renovations to the Vernon athletic center and music rooms and new classroom and storage space.
"We have, we entering our last phase which is phase 3. That would be the renovation of the Athletic Center at Vernon...So the work will start, next week," Dr. Yanni said, and added that the district plans to complete the work before the end of the school year. The presentation named the former Butler Building as the Athletic Center and described new classroom additions and a storage facility for the grounds crew.
Principals and staff credited prior bond work — including an extension at Theodore Roosevelt — with enabling expanded pre‑K programming and improved specialized spaces for therapy and small‑group instruction. The board was told the projects are intended to support instructional programming and extracurricular activities once construction is finished.
