Summary

During the public‑comment period, Armando Luis addressed the board to urge subject‑specific instruction for 5th grade, saying it would better prepare students for middle school routines and reduce teacher workload. He described prior collaboration with district staff on schedule ideas and noted teachers' contributions to designing a compromise schedule.
"By transitioning to multiple teachers before entering middle school, students become accustomed to different teaching styles, classroom structures and expectations, easing their academic and emotional transition," he said. Armando acknowledged licensing and TSPC requirements but argued a thoughtfully designed schedule would benefit students and teachers.
