The board approved field trips to Washington, D.C., scheduled April 30, May 22 and May 26 for various grade levels after administration presented counts and cost estimates. Trustee Mr. King said two trusts—the Evelyn Rogers Trust and the Glen Logan Trust—had agreed to cover the transportation costs. "The Evelyn Rogers Trust and the Glen Logan Trust will each provide 50% of the cost including the tip," Mr. King said. Board members accepted the donation and amended the plan to open up to 15 additional seats on the senior bus (first-come, first-served) with Mrs Booth covering additional meal costs if needed; the motion to approve the field trips with the stated conditions carried.
Trustees also discussed plans for students who remain on campus the day of trips and asked administration to return with specific classroom activities and any memorandum of understanding required between the district and the Big Spring Education Association related to extra-duty pay and staffing.
