Washington County Executive Josh Schoeman spotlights Blue Lotus Center, seeks expanded partnership

Washington County Executive Josh Schoeman visited Blue Lotus Center in Trenton during an episode of WASHCO Weekly to highlight the nonprofit's outdoor-access programs and to announce a desire to expand county partnerships. Schoeman said the county's Human Services Department, the ADRC and the Health Department are closely aligned with the center's mission.

Mike Larson, executive director of Blue Lotus Center, described the organization as "a non profit nature center for people with disabilities and other profound life challenges," and said the site brings people and partner organization constituents to the property for outdoor recreation and respite. "We bring them and their constituents out here for a day of outdoor recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation on this beautiful 64 acre property," Larson said.

Schoeman framed the visit as part of ongoing efforts to increase access to basic needs through county services and to strengthen collaboration with local nonprofits. He said Washington County looks forward to "expanding our partnership" with Blue Lotus and other organizations that serve residents with disabilities and long-term care needs.
