Vernonia board elects officers, assigns committees and declares athletics equipment surplus

The Vernonia School District Board elected officers for the 2026-27 year at the July 9 meeting. Tony Holmes moved to nominate Greg Kintz as Board Chair; Lisa Curry seconded. The vote was recorded with Greg Kintz abstaining and the other five members voting in favor. Amy Cieloha moved to nominate Joanie Jones as Vice Chair; Alicia Mahoney seconded. Joanie Jones abstained from the vote and the remaining members voted in favor.
The board approved committee assignments: Negotiations Team members Lisa Curry, Alicia Mahoney and Greg Kintz; Scholarship Committee members Joanie Jones, Amy Cieloha and Tony Holmes; and policy committee appointments for Alicia Mahoney and Joanie Jones. The board also declared a linear leg press surplus after the athletic department reported the piece occupied excessive floor space and served only one athlete; the department will sell the item and reinvest proceeds into other equipment.
The consent agenda was approved and included administrative designations (chief administrative & budget officer/Clerk; custodian of funds; authorized signatures; representatives for state/federal grants), depository of funds (US Bank & Government Pool), auditors (Clear Trail CPAs, LLC), insurance agent (Brown & Brown Northwest), attorney of record, newspaper of record (Vernonia's Voice), and a borrowing limit of $150,000. All motions in this block of items passed unanimously.
