Vernonia board sets substitute pay at $236.26, approves 2026-27 meeting schedule

At the July 9 meeting the Vernonia School District Board approved a motion to set substitute teacher pay for 2026-27 at the state-recommended rate of $236.26 per day, up from $221.00 the prior year. Joanie Jones moved to adopt the rate and Alicia Mahoney seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved an amended 2026-27 meeting schedule, moving the November meeting to Tuesday, Nov. 10 to avoid a conflict with the OSBA Annual Convention; the October and April meetings will be held at Mist Elementary as in prior years. The motions were routine and recorded as passing unanimously.
