Board approves new hires, accepts resignations and ratifies sidebar agreement on extra periods

The Springfield Board of Education approved a slate of personnel actions on Feb. 2, including new staff appointments (teachers, custodians, bus drivers and instructional aides) with effective dates and account codes noted; several appointments are pending criminal-history background clearance. The board also accepted resignations and retirements and approved leave requests and substitute appointments with the specified daily and hourly rates.
In negotiations, the board approved a Sidebar Agreement with the Springfield Education Association to provide additional class-period compensation at the high school. Vice President Tracey Rinaldi moved the sidebar agreement; Mrs. Gamarekian seconded and the board approved the item by roll call (Yes 8, Absent 1). Board minutes list retirements effective July 1, 2026 for Mary Perdomo and Michelle Feder.
