The Springfield Board of Education considered and approved several policy actions as part of its governance agenda on Feb. 24. The minutes record first and second readings as well as adoption of multiple policies and regulations, including P 6111 (Special Education Medicaid Initiative/SEMI), P 8500 (Food Services), P 6220 (Budget Preparation), and P 5460 (High School Graduation).
The SEMI policy (P 6111) text included in the minutes reiterates statutory obligations to maximize SEMI participation and to recognize projected SEMI reimbursement as revenue in the budget; it describes parental-consent benchmarks and potential state aid consequences if participation targets are not met. The Food Services policy (P 8500) and related procedures summarize eligibility definitions, breakfast/lunch program requirements and protections against overt identification of students receiving subsidized meals. The Board recorded adoption dates (for several policies: Adopted Feb. 23, 2026) and noted first readings on Jan. 26, 2026 for items shown in the minutes.
Board members discussed the items through the governance committee and proceeded with the recorded votes for the agenda package that contained the policy approvals. The policies and full regulatory text are appended to the meeting minutes for public reference.
