Springfield Board approves multiple staff hires, resignations and leaves

The Springfield Board of Education on Feb. 24 approved multiple personnel items for the 2025–26 school year, including new hires, resignations and leave requests.
The approvals included the appointment of Robin Blount as school nurse at TLS effective Feb. 17 through June 30, 2026 at $76,647 (Step 13-BA); Leslie Reyes as an elementary leave replacement for FMG at $62,147 (Step 1-BA); and Francisco Escalante as a custodian (start March 2, 2026) at $48,685 plus a $1,654.24 stipend. The agenda noted multiple hires marked “*Pending Criminal History Background Clearance.” The Board also accepted resignations including Brian Martin (Health & Physical Education, FMG) effective March 10, 2026, and Neysa Doshi (Mathematics, JDHS) effective March 17, 2026.
The Board approved specified leave requests (medical, FMLA and maternity leaves) for individual employees with dates and pay status recorded in the minutes, and authorized substitute pay rates for the year (NJ Certified Teachers $135/day; sub-certified $125/day; Nurse $190/day; paraprofessionals and some hourly staff at $20/hr.). The personnel and related governance items were presented by Vice President Tracey Rinaldi and included in the package of agenda items approved by unanimous roll call.
Board procedure and vote: Vice President Tracey Rinaldi moved the personnel items as part of the governance package; the full agenda (items 1–26 and addenda 27–32) was later approved by roll call with nine Yes votes.
