Fall River planning board again tables Spring Street reconstruction petition

The Fall River Planning Board on Aug. 12 voted unanimously to table a petition to reconstruct Spring Street under Section 66-185, after staff said the applicant's design engineer had not finished revised plans. Staff reported soil testing was completed "approximately a week or 2 ago" and that the consultant, Bill Smith, expects to provide revised plans before the September meeting.

Board chair John Ferreira asked for a motion after staff recommended tabling the item at the applicant's request; Mike Farias moved to table and Orlando Rodriguez seconded. The motion carried with recorded votes in favor from Beth Andrei, Michael Farias, Gloria Pacheco, Orlando Rodriguez and Ferreira. The board directed the applicant to submit the revised plans at least two weeks before the next meeting so staff and consultants can complete their reviews.

The petition has been before the board repeatedly: staff said it was previously tabled at hearings in April, May, June and July at the applicant's request. Staff also noted the need to review drainage redesigns and soil-test results before the planning board may act. No formal approvals or conditions were made at the meeting; the item will be scheduled for the next meeting as a time-certain agenda item.
