Resident urges action as town grapple with multiple stray cats and unresponsive humane society

A resident told the select board he is trying to help Jenna Lade rehome roughly 15 cats but said the regional humane society has not been responsive to requests for assistance.

"The humane society is just being god awful and not responding," the resident said, adding he planned to visit the shelter during business hours and, if necessary, drop strays there. Board members discussed shelter policies that sometimes require a monetary donation with surrenders and suggested alternative ways to document and transfer animals.

Members suggested coordinating with neighboring towns or shelter staff to ensure animals are accepted and discussed the limits of local authority in compelling shelters to act. No formal direction or motion was recorded; staff and residents said they would follow up on contacts and attempts to rehome the animals.
