Planning Commission asks Assembly to uphold its decision on Title Network subdivision appeal

Commissioners discussed the Title Network minor subdivision (the parcel by the fire hall) that was appealed to the Borough Assembly after the commission did not second motion to approve at a prior meeting. Commissioners said they spent many hours taking testimony and working with the community and argued the primary grounds to oppose the subdivision are safety and aesthetic concerns.

Commissioner (S6) outlined risks: a lattice communication tower on the proposed site could collapse under wind/ice loads, would sit near the borough's single fire hall and a 200‑gallon fuel source, and might present hazards to airport operations and low‑flying aircraft. The commission drafted a short letter stating: "We, the Planning Commission, respectfully request that our decision to not consider the minor subdivision application by Title Network be upheld. We did not arrive at this decision lightly. We came to this conclusion after countless hours of community collaboration and in consideration of aesthetic, economic, and safety concerns." The commission moved, seconded and voted to send the letter to the Assembly.
