Inclusion Subcommittee to build user-friendly Pittsburgh accessibility resource guide

Tysana Jones, a member of the Inclusion Subcommittee of the city–county task force on disabilities, opened the meeting by describing the committee's effort to turn a shared document into a practical, user-facing resource. "And the document that, folks have been contributing to is called the resource guide," Jones said, urging the group to focus on short checklists and clear directions so people can find services without undue effort.

Members reported access and permission problems with the file (some said the link had been sent in a newsletter but permissions were missing). Jones asked volunteers to help make the guide concise and to surface information beyond city or county webpages — focusing on community recreation, health resources and school-related supports. Committee members agreed to form smaller working groups to cover specific domains and to gather examples of accessible venues and language that organizations use for accommodations.
