Board member warns LERV mapping could impose burdens on rural landowners

A member raised the LERV document as an item of concern, saying maps and policy language may not have had sufficient input from affected landowners and could produce unintended consequences in rural conservation areas. The member said some long-time property owners could find the proposed mapping limits their ability to build or transfer property as intended.

"We start looking at whether men without adequate input from affected land owners and most of these policies will have unintended, disproportionate, consequent of the lower income senior in rural communities," the Chair said, urging the group to revisit the map and consider how policies might be changed to reduce disproportionate impacts. The board asked staff to review the document and follow up with revised materials for the next meeting.
