Board members heard a proposal to increase breakfast participation by adding mobile 'grab-and-go' carts at high-school entrances. "We're hoping to add a couple mobile carts so that it's kind of a grab and go breakfast, at both main entrances so that students who want to go to the locker, get to class on time ... can also still eat breakfast and be a part of the free breakfast program," the superintendent said.
Members discussed practical issues such as bus arrival times and items appropriate for quick service; one member suggested including portable items like protein bars to avoid classroom mess concerns. The superintendent said staff will pilot the approach at the high school and, if successful, consider bringing mobile carts to the middle school.
