The board approved awards for phase 1 of the districts 2024 capital improvement project after administrators reported bids came in substantially below estimates. The site-work contract (Contract 101) was awarded to Foam and Asphalt Paving Corporation: base bid $1,585,000 with alternates bringing the total to $2,064,500. The roofing contract (Contract 102) was awarded to Weaver Metal and Roofing Incorporated: a base bid of $4,112,000 and a total (including alternate) of approximately $4,854,000.
District staff told the board the bids were about $2.6 million less than planned and noted the district chose a higher-grade roofing option that includes a 30-year warranty (versus a 20-year roof) to create a 10-year separation between major roof replacements across buildings. "We did go with a a little higher level roof, which includes a a 30 year warranty as opposed to a 20 year warranty," an administrator said.
Board members discussed the timing for parking-lot work (planned for the coming summer) and noted the roof work will span two summers. The construction-materials inspection and testing services for phases 1 and 2 were awarded to Anchorus Group.
All contract awards and related motions were seconded and carried by voice vote.
