Principal Jeff Cervone presented attendance figures showing a drop from 773 absences at the same point last year to 636 this year, a 17% decrease, and said the district is at roughly 96% attendance (grades 6–12). "If you take a look at this chart... Last year at this time, we had 773 absences. We're now at 636. It's a 17% drop," Cervone said.
Cervone outlined interventions used to improve attendance: persistent phone calls, home visits (some unannounced), family contracts, counseling, social‑work involvement, and coordination with Erie County Child and Family Services. He said the district has one chronically absent student (18+ days) and emphasized targeted work for students who carry absence habits from one grade into the next.
