Eden Athletics reports growth; senior athlete describes impact

Eden's athletic staff told the board that participation increased this spring and many teams achieved academic and competitive milestones.
"This spring, Eden Athletics offered 18 teams across the varsity, JV, and modified levels," Mr. Iwanco reported. "This spring, 294 students in grades 7 through 12 participated in athletics. That represents approximately 50% of our student population, and that is an increase from last spring." He noted varsity teams earned scholar‑athlete team recognition and highlighted postseason runs, including the boys lacrosse team finishing as Class D runner‑up and the girls lacrosse team winning the Class D championship.
Board members then heard directly from senior student‑athlete Cece Clark, who described how sports shaped her school experience: "Being an athlete at Eden was so much more than getting on the field to play in a game. It gave me experiences that have helped shape my character and who I have become." Clark said athletics taught leadership, perseverance and prepared several students for collegiate play; the board thanked her and noted awards presented at the senior banquet.
The athletic report concluded with staff thanking the board for support and noting continued emphasis on student development on and off the field.
