Colorado County authorizes bid solicitation for Zimmerscheidt Road bridge project in Precinct 3

The Colorado County Commissioners Court on May 26 authorized the County Commissioner for Precinct 3 to solicit sealed bids for construction of a bridge at low-water crossing #1 on Zimmerscheidt Road. Commissioner Keith Neuendorff presented construction documents and an invitation for bids; the court approved the motion to advertise and solicit bids 5–0.

The invitation published by the county sets a June 18, 2026 bid-opening at 2 p.m. in the County Judge's Office and requires bidders to submit a cashier's or certified check for 5% of the bid price or an equivalent bid bond. The county's bid packet includes project specifications, contractor insurance and bonding requirements, and performance/payment-bond thresholds for contracts exceeding state thresholds. Plans and specifications will be available from the County Judge's office and on the county website.

Neuendorff said the action will let the county solicit competitive bids and award the work after evaluation; the county has required standard performance bonds and a bidder prequalification process for public works projects in past procurements. The solicitation packet directs bidders to submit cashier's checks or bid bonds and describes requirements for concrete, steel and roadway construction found in the bid documents.
