Board approves Vision 2030 school renewal plans with annual progress monitoring

The Cherokee County School Board voted unanimously to approve the district's school renewal plans (Vision 2030) after a presentation on required goals, strategies, responsibilities and monitoring.
Dr. Ruth explained that state review returned feedback and that schools must create measurable goals (recommended two to four per school) tied to student achievement, teacher/administrator quality and school climate. She said goals must include strategies, assigned responsibilities, timelines and funding sources and noted that ELA and math goals are expected to be high because of new report-card components. "Every year, they have to revisit these goals," Dr. Ruth told trustees, adding the plans include spaces to record each year's progress. Trustees asked about reassessment if schools fall short of goals and were told schools can realign goals and must document revised strategies and progress monitoring.
The board approved the renewal plans and instructed the administration to share annual progress updates with the board at the end of each year.
