Commissioners approve $30,000, one-year service agreement with 1 Southern Indiana

The Scott County commissioners approved a one-year service agreement with 1 Southern Indiana on June 17, authorizing the county to continue purchasing local economic-development services at the same cost as the previous year. Commissioner Randy moved to approve the contract, described in the meeting as a one-year agreement for $30,000; the motion carried after a second and an aye vote from the board.

John Launice, representing 1 Southern Indiana, told the board the organization's January–June activities include business attraction and retention visits, small-business assistance and regional marketing. "You have the 2 projects from Conco, both at a 175 jobs a piece," Launice said, describing recent local project wins that he said bring "well over 300 jobs." Launice also asked the county to designate a representative to serve on the new economic-development council and executive council formed under a revised regional structure, and he said the Southern Indiana RDA will remain the fund authority while River Hills Economic Development will serve as grant administrator.

The board received the presentation and moved to continue the county's service agreement at the same cost. Commissioners said they would review performance during the contract year before deciding on renewal beyond the current term.
