Board accepts FAA and state grants for Sawyer apron reconstruction

County staff presented a Federal Aviation Administration grant agreement and a state contract to reconstruct approximately 11,000 square yards of apron at Sawyer (Sawyer International Airport) and to repair additional apron areas. The federal share was reported as 95%, with state funding and prior allocation planned to cover the local balance.

"This is a FAA grant that we received, ready for signature," David, staff, told the board and reviewed the federal project number and the grant documents. Commissioners confirmed the federal and state resolutions and moved to adopt both agreements, directing the chair and the clerk to execute the documents on behalf of the county.

Roll-call votes were recorded and both resolutions were approved. Staff said the project will be funded by federal AIP funding, state allocation and remaining entitlement funds; the county previously worked with the board of advisors to identify the state allocation portion.

Next steps: county staff will execute grant and contract documents and proceed with project planning and procurement consistent with grant conditions.
