Superintendent and administrators update board on facilities, STAAR, athletics and technology

Superintendent Mandy (Mandy/Amanda) Traylor and administrators provided several routine reports at the April 20 meeting. Traylor reported that Angelo Painters began gymnasium painting the week of April 23 and that the district is awaiting quotes for upgraded gym seating and bleacher additions. She also said a memorial tree planting is planned for the fall and that Project Graduation has donor support after the district declined to host TXDOT grant presentations.

Principal Amber Palmer reported on academic and extracurricular activity: CX Debate teams competed at state, District 11-A Academic UIL was hosted on March 26, cheer tryouts occurred April 10, and STAAR testing runs April 14–23. Athletic Director Justin Morris summarized spring sports results, noting district championships for the JV boys golf team and the girls' golf team and that Lorenzo Hight qualified for regionals. Technology Director Lahne Burns reported repairs to track network drops, replacement of a failed track camera, deployment of updated STAAR testing applications to Chromebooks and planned camera installations at campus sites.

On staffing, Traylor reported a custodian vacancy and encouraged RSVPs for an upcoming employee banquet; she also noted she will attend the TASB Risk Fund conference April 25–28. The board tabled action on gym seating quotes to the May meeting and requested follow-up on seating quotes and transportation cost estimates.
