Central Square Board approves 2026–27 districtwide school safety plan

The Central Square Central School District Board of Education voted unanimously (5–0) on Aug. 4, 2026, to approve the 2026–27 District-wide School Safety Plan and associated documents, including the District Code of Conduct, the Public Employer Emergency Health Plan, the Workplace Violence Prevention Program and an Emergency Response Poster. The motion (Fischmann/Douglas) passed without dissent.
Board President Steven Patch introduced Superintendent Thomas J. Colabufo and School Business Manager Maureen Phippen Ladd, who presented the plan in a public hearing using a PowerPoint. Administration said there were approximately 4 people present in the audience and invited questions; none were offered during the public hearing. The board adjourned the public hearing at 6:08 p.m. and reopened the regular meeting at 6:09 p.m., before later moving to the approval vote.
Why it matters: the adopted packet sets the District’s operational expectations for safety, emergency response and staff obligations for the 2026–27 school year and bundles several standing policy documents that guide building-level and districtwide preparedness. Copies of the PowerPoint and the approved documents were recorded in the District Clerk’s supplemental file.
