District outlines summer-school dates, curriculum rollout and small-class plans

Scott (staff, S4) told the board the district will run summer school in two blocks — June 22–24 and June 29–July 3 — and that enrollment was currently below typical levels, with "just under 20 students" signed up. He said the district adjusted dates so teachers could attend an explicit-instruction conference on June 25–26.
Scott described how summer instruction is organized by approximate grade bands (K–2, 3–4, 5–6) and that teachers coordinate with classroom teachers to focus on needs such as fluency or comprehension. He acknowledged that an eight-day session limits measurable gains and said the district would "visit the teachers" for feedback about outcomes and potential metrics, but that formal year-to-year test comparisons remain the primary metric.
Separately, Scott reported new ELA curriculum materials are arriving and the district is monitoring class sizes that vary daily; administrators said they may split classes part time for math and language arts if enrollment grows.
