During public comment Mary (S6) proposed an alternative to placing an athletic complex adjacent to neighborhood homes, saying a locally owned facility could serve district needs for bus storage or other uses. She said residents had "outside the box" ideas and mentioned that Jim Flatten might sell or lease a facility on the other side of town.
"Jim Flatten over on the other side of town, he would be willing to sell or lease his facility if, we could use that possibly going forward," Mary said, offering that option as a way to avoid siting an athletic field between homes. She also warned that parking will be a problem at the proposed site and urged the board to consider alternatives that would reduce impacts on adjacent properties.
Board members acknowledged the suggestion and asked staff to continue exploring options; no formal motion or vote was taken on a leasing proposal at the meeting.
