Board Chair called the Colman-Egan School District 50-5 meeting to order and opened with public comment on a proposed athletic field east of town. A resident asked whether a wetland report for that field was available, pressing staff for the study’s status and timing.
"I understood there was a wetland report on the this field to the east of us," a resident said, asking if results were available. Scott, a district staff member, said he had spoken with Kyle from ISG and expected a preliminary report in the office the following day and explained that wetland delineations depend on seasonal vegetation cues. Scott noted wetland delineation differs from floodplain mapping and that certain grasses are used to determine wetland status.
Residents said the proposed location, adjacent to private homes, risks ongoing water problems and mosquito breeding. Mary, a neighbor, said an athletic complex there would present water-management challenges and parking headaches, urging the board to consider alternatives and to use the pending delineation to inform siting decisions. The meeting record shows no formal decision on the site; board members requested the wetland information be circulated when available.
The board did not vote on the field location at the meeting. The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 13, when the district will also hold a budget hearing at 06:30 p.m.
