Trustee Gilmore and assistant superintendent Rosemary Marks presented the results of a ThoughtExchange community survey that received 1,357 responses and included multiple languages and paper distribution at houses of worship. The top priorities identified by respondents were academic achievement and student success, field trips and enrichment, followed by safety and security.
The committee highlighted three cross-cutting themes — financial stability, academic excellence, and safe schools — and emphasized the need for improved trust and transparency following the budget deficit conversation earlier in the year. Survey participants favored email as the preferred communication method (84%), requested plain-language updates and asked for more detail ahead of decisions. The board pledged to use the survey to guide targeted follow-up sessions and community engagement.
