Pond Creek-Hunter board approves routine FY2026–27 contracts, insurance and a new hire

The Pond Creek-Hunter Public Schools Board of Education met Monday, June 8, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Board of Education Room at 200 E. Broadway in Pond Creek and approved a series of routine administrative actions for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
By unanimous recorded votes, the board adopted the agenda, approved the consent agenda covering minutes from May 11, 2026, activity fund accounts, purchase orders (PO #160–173 and PO #8), approval of a contract for Oklahoma Teacher and Leader Effectiveness, membership renewals with the Oklahoma State School Board Association and the Organization of Rural Oklahoma Schools, and bonds for superintendent and treasurer positions through Liberty Mutual. The minutes record that the motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Justin Bentley and seconded by Jason Williams and carried with yea votes from Bentley, R.D. Schuermann, James Streck and Jason Williams.
The board also voted to renew a Sublease Agreement dated September 1, 2015, with the Grant County Educational Facilities Authority for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027. Jason Williams moved the renewal and R.D. Schuermann seconded; the minutes record recorded yeas from Micah Barr, Justin Bentley, R.D. Schuermann, James Streck and Jason Williams.
Insurance purchases for the coming year were approved: the board approved Workers Compensation Insurance for the 2026–2027 school year (motion by Justin Bentley, second by Jason Williams) and separately approved the OSIG insurance package for 2026–2027 (motion by Jason Williams, second by Justin Bentley). Both motions carried with all recorded board members voting yea.
On personnel, the board approved a motion to hire Baylee Bowman as an elementary teacher; the motion was made by Jason Williams, seconded by Justin Bentley and carried with yeas from the board. The minutes note that Micah Barr arrived at 6:42 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:05 p.m. after a motion by Jason Williams and second by Justin Bentley.
