Staff: water-well sampling, bacteria testing planned for Alcova study

Director Michael told trustees that engineers have finished field work for the Alcova water-sewer study except for water-well sampling and that staff recommended adding a baseline well at higher elevation to establish a reference for aquifer conditions.

"They're gonna be testing for coliform, E. Coli, bacteria, nitrates, nitrites," Michael said, noting the tests will provide a "full spectrum" water analysis. He said engineers are contacting cabin owners to collect samples next week. Michael also reported administrative follow-up: six signed lot permits remain missing and one lot fee is unpaid; staff are preparing letters to property owners.

The board discussed the timing and scope of sampling; Michael said a higher-elevation baseline well would help clarify whether septic systems are impacting the aquifer. Trustees did not set a public deadline for report release but asked staff to proceed with sampling and owner notification.
