Board hears MSOC funding gap and CTE shortfall; levy dollars to cover vocational teaching

The presenter also pointed to a $50,509.94 shortfall in the vocational (CTE) program because current enrollment does not fund two full-time CTE teachers. To maintain the program, Amy said the district will charge the missing 0.5 of a teacher to levy (local) funds. "As of right now, the students that we have, the number of students, it doesn't fund us enough for 2 full time teachers," Amy told the board.
Board discussion focused on confirming accounting and levy usage; the board adopted the budget that incorporates the levy-supported staffing decisions rather than directing separate hires at the meeting.
