The Liberty School District’s proposed capital projects fund for 2627 is $8,057,004.80 and includes a $6,000,000 placeholder for a small-district modernization grant the district hopes to receive. Amy told the board the district built the grant amount into the capital budget now so it would have spending capacity if the grant is funded.
"We’ve built we're just building in that capacity right now, just in case," Amy said, adding that if the grant is not awarded the district will not spend the placeholder amount and would avoid a formal budget extension. The capital budget also reflects carryover balances and an intended reserve of roughly $250,000.
Board members pressed for updates on timing, and administrators said the district will track the grant application and return to the board if funding arrives or if budget revisions are necessary.
