Board OKs consultant for rooftop solar projects and previews community solar opt-in program

Trustees unanimously approved resolution 26-67 to authorize a consulting agreement with Municipal Solar Partners to prepare procurement specifications for rooftop solar on three village buildings (village hall, DPW and Head Start). Staff (S10) said the village had received roughly $262,000 from a Clean Energy Communities program to deploy toward three rooftop projects and recommended hiring a nonprofit consultant to reduce procurement risk and attract competitive bids.

Separately, S10 previewed a community solar partnership that would be opt-in for residents and offer about a 10% discount on the energy-production portion of customers’ bills (20% for low/moderate-income subscribers), plus a one-time $75 incentive for early sign-ups. The village could receive a referral fee (roughly $100–$200 per subscriber depending on income category) to fund outreach or sustainability programs; trustees asked for details on definitions of low/moderate income, subscriber administration, and whether revenues would be earmarked.
