District project managers report progress on elementary site work, chiller replacement and athletics projects

AG/CM project managers Melisa Nu'u and Ryan Zwicke updated trustees on construction and refresh projects across the district, outlining site work, utilities and schedule details connected to both completed and upcoming work.

For Navarro South Elementary they reported public infrastructure utility installation is underway and an 8‑inch domestic water line from Hannah Heights has been completed; the building pad select fill is nearly finished and final lifts of A2 base are being installed. The official groundbreaking ceremony was scheduled for Jan. 29 at 8:30 a.m. For the existing high school, structural support additions for a chiller replacement are nearly complete, mechanical penetrations have been finished and pipe work and electrical are nearing completion; the new chiller installation was scheduled for Jan. 28.

Junior high refresh work includes second‑floor painting completed, first‑floor priming and painting ongoing, removal of display‑case wall coverings, and planned skylight cleaning and light‑fixture demolition. The intermediate and elementary refresh design documents (100% CDs) were described as forthcoming for board approval in February, with contractor bidding projected for March. Athletic projects reported progress on turf, dugout framing, scoreboards, tennis court pours and fencing, grandstand foundations and fieldhouse masonry and MEP rough‑in. The drives, parking and playgrounds project was reported complete and in final closeout.

District staff said they coordinated with the Guadalupe County Fire Marshal's Office and other contractors on scope and fire protection for existing building renovations and that Bartlett Cocke and others are completing winterization and test‑and‑balance work for the new high school.
