Board hears updates on emergency capital work, COEP sliding wall and fix-it projects ahead of December and May votes
Summary
District staff updated the board on four capital projects: a completed emergency project, a $100,000 COEP project (sliding wall) to capture aid, a fix-it capital project based on building condition surveys (planned for December vote), and an auditorium renovation targeted for a May 2027 vote.

Paul provided a multi-part update on capital work. He said one emergency capital project is finished and final bills were paid; the financial consultant is finalizing paperwork for state aid. He described a $100,000 Capital Outlay Exemption Project (COEP) that the district will use to capture aid next year and said, "That project is actually doing, a sliding wall in the high school." Paul explained that because this work required architectural support and had to be bid, the district made it the first capital project in order to capture state aid.
Paul also outlined a larger "fix-it" capital project that will address items identified in the district condition survey across lower-level schools (tiles, toilets, roofs, piping) and noted planning is underway for a December vote. An auditorium renovation is being reviewed by the facilities committee and is tentatively targeted for a May 2027 vote after further cost finalization and public information. Paul said the pool filtration system and intercom replacements are included in the planned work across buildings and that the facilities committee will provide ongoing updates.
