Resident says quarry blasts shook home, asks for seismograph data and road fixes

A resident told the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors that blasts from a nearby operation have repeatedly shaken their home and that they have not received monitoring data from the operator. "My house has taken a hit. It shakes each time it happens," the resident said, adding that a seismograph placed in their yard produced data that the resident was told belonged to Cole Anderson and had not been provided on request.

Board members asked whether the resident had received formal advance notices of the blasts and whether the operator had any contractual notification obligations; the resident said they were notified of the first but not the second blast. The resident also raised concerns about road damage caused by heavy six‑wheel dump trucks, dust control measures on site and an asserted drop in property valuation, saying, "I mean, you guys got liability insurance going in. If you guys pass this thing, do we do we could have it? I guess another one of the things is, is he permitted to drive those 6 wheel drive big dump trucks on the roads?" The board encouraged the resident to document dates and times and to keep a log for potential civil remedies. Several members recommended contacting the state DOT about overweight trucks and checking whether fines had been assessed.
