Resident urges more public discussion on capital reserve and kindergarten counts
Summary
Anne Marie Longo asked why discussions about changing the capital reserve scope and the legal rationale for doing so were not being held in public earlier, and challenged the district's reported kindergarten numbers compared with her own observations of pre-K registration.

During public participation on non-agenda items, Anne Marie Longo asked the board to provide clearer, earlier public discussion about changes to the capital reserve and the legal basis for any changes. "It's my understanding ... that every discussion on every single thing that goes on in this school district must be conducted at this meeting regardless of what it is, except for personnel or children," she said, arguing the community should see the rationale and the details of how funds would move between accounts.
Longo also questioned the district’s kindergarten projections and registration messaging—saying she observes 72 pre-K children and asked whether pre-K students are being automatically enrolled or must complete a modified registration to be counted. A board member replied that auditors recommended establishing a new reserve rather than extending the old one, and administrators reiterated they will post the presentation and line-by-line budget for community review.
