Summary

During public comment, Alina Vigliante asked the board to explain the district's position on a pending class-action lawsuit alleging that iReady collects and shares student data and creates behavioral profiles without proper parental consent.
"I Ready is an EdTech program used by children in the elementary schools, and it's currently being sued in a class action lawsuit that alleges that the company collects, uses, and shares information about children without proper parental consent," Vigliante said, asking whether parents can learn what data is collected and whether they can opt out or request deletion.
Superintendent Dr. Yanni responded that the district takes student data seriously, that student data is protected under their contract arrangements, and that the company has denied the allegations. He said the district is monitoring the litigation and will provide follow-up information to parents.
"So the student data is protected by Edelow 2 d, which we have an agreement. The company has denied the any, disclaims, related to the lawsuit. So we are looking into lawsuit, and we are monitoring, closely," Dr. Yanni said in response. He committed to returning with more specifics to the questioner.
