The Oysterponds Union Free School District Board of Education approved a consent agenda on July 7 that bundled multiple personnel appointments, service contracts and program agreements and passed them 7 Yes; 0 No; 0 Abstain.
The consent items included approval of minutes and bill payments with Warrant #C-6 for $93.60 and Warrant #A-24 for $507,497.05, and acceptance of financial reports to be filed when available. The consent list also captured multiple personnel actions recommended by Superintendent of Schools/Principal Dr. Cobis: appointment of Tara Haas as a full-time Teacher Assistant I at an annual salary of $43,775, effective Sept. 2, 2026 (tenure track to 9/2/30); appointment of Yesenia Huertas as a full-time teacher aide at a salary of $30,000 pending fingerprint clearance; and several extra-duty stipends including Garden/STEM Club Advisors at $82 per hour (not to exceed 30 days) and a Missoula accompanist contract at $82 per hour for up to 12 hours.
Procurement and service approvals in the consent bundle included a contract extension with Sunrise Busses, Inc. for district transportation at a 5.1% increase for the 2026–27 school year; acceptance of a Crisis Prevention Institute Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training proposal for $4,949; an award to Lindsey Gallagher for behavior consulting services (hourly rates per attached rate sheet); and an agreement with Michelle Quinn for Speech-Language Pathology services for the summer program at $75 per 30-minute session, not to exceed $750.
The board also approved Committee on Special Education (CSE) recommendations for K–12 students for 2026–27 and authorized listed budget transfers (see related actions), and accepted a Request for Proposal from SCOPE Education Services for a three-year-old Pre-K program at a total cost of $117,500. The motion to approve the consent items was moved by Board member Philip Mastrangelo and seconded by Board member Thomas Stevenson.
The board recorded the consent vote as 7 Yes; 0 No; 0 Abstain. Most items were passed without separate debate and were treated as a single consent package; the board will post forthcoming appropriation, revenue and treasurer reports when available.
