Corrina Robinson, Assistant Superintendent and Director of Special Education at InterMountain Education Service District, and Rebecca Marshall, a special education teacher with Pendleton School District, gave a presentation focused on the history, legal framework and classroom practices of special education. The presenters framed the session with a "Historical Lens of Special Education," reviewed the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and highlighted evidence-based practices intended to keep students safe.
Robinson and Marshall described disciplinary protections and state and federal legal considerations and said attendees could ask questions at the end of the session. Chair Beth Harrison thanked them for their work in preparing the presentation and for participating in the board's Q&A. The presentation materials emphasized "safety for all students," and the board discussed implementation and supports for staff and students.
