Staff reports generator servicing, Carl Street leak and road and hydrant work

Public works staff updated the council on multiple infrastructure tasks, saying outside contractors recently serviced the town's generators and that staff will address a few outstanding preventive-maintenance items when the contractor returns. “Everpar was out to service on the generators,” the staff member said.

The staff member described an active service-line leak near Carl Street that has been difficult to pinpoint because a storm manhole is generating too much noise for listening devices; if the problem is multiple leaks the repair could be extensive. The staff member said they may relocate a listening device to isolate the source and noted, “That node is listening to that manhole also, so it's here in that manhole running like crazy.”

Crews are also excavating and stoning streets and installing geogrid before paving; the staff member said the work is moving along and that a storm project is scheduled to begin shortly. On hydrants, staff said the town will reapply color-coding and add reflective bands so hydrants are visible at night. "Those are in there and they'll be color coded," the staff member said. The council and staff agreed hydrant data already entered into the Silversmith system will be shared when available.

The presentation included several operational details used by staff to track work: the previous CNI five-year fiber arrangement has been on a month-to-month basis while the town transitions internet service (see separate article), crews began summer-meter drops on the 19th, and staff will flush hydrants and upload hydrant data after inspections are complete.
