Boone County Board hears construction updates, approves winter-condition change orders and owner's-rep services

County project managers and contractors updated the board on a series of renovation and construction projects across county properties. Dan Saavedra reported that interior work at the courthouse is finishing and exterior work is starting; transit building construction documents were submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation and several tenant moves (CASA, Probation) into the courthouse were completed.

Contractor representatives and county staff presented change orders and schedule information. Clayton (Klubber) said that approving one winter-condition change order would shorten the construction timeline by about one month, while approving another would reduce it by two months and that "if this is approved, Scandroli could decrease the construction timeline by 2 months." Randy Darnell (CCS) noted a prior value-engineering process that saved $210,000 but pushed construction into winter months. The board approved Scandroli Change Order 12 ($10,246.92), Change Order 13 ($14,678.84), and Change Order 14 ($31,797.88) and approved CCS for 2026 owner's-rep services.
