New CTE building opens to full occupancy; robotics students lead tour

District staff and board members toured the new middle school Career and Technical Education (CTE) building during the Feb. 19 meeting, where middle school Robotics students opened the visit with a brief demonstration.
Maintenance and administrative staff reported that the CTE building is at full occupancy. Superintendent Heidi Sipe and Maintenance Director Vincent "Vinny" Stefani thanked students and staff for assembling furniture as a cost-saving measure. Sipe also announced plans for a time capsule to be installed behind the board members’ plaques in the new CTE space; the capsule will be opened after 50 years, and its contents will be selected with student, community, and board input.
The board’s review of facilities work also noted restroom plans at McNary and lighting adjustments at Columbia Vista Intermediate School and the soccer field as remaining bond-related projects.
