Superintendent Bare updated the South Umpqua School District Board on several facility and safety upgrades at the Dec. 17 meeting. "The remote entries are up and going in all schools," she said, and staff can now view a video feed when someone presses the buzzer before granting entry. The district expects its new visitor-management system to be operational after the winter break, and fencing at South Umpqua High School that borders I‑5 and Chadwick Lane is nearly finished.
The superintendent framed the upgrades as part of broader district priorities tied to the strategic plan and site-level work on Professional Learning Communities. Board members did not take additional action at the meeting; the improvements were presented as completed or near completion and scheduled for operational rollout after the break.
