At the May 12 meeting the Milton-Freewater Unified SD 7 board accepted two grants and multiple community donations to support student programs.
Superintendent Aaron Duff presented an Oregon Department of Education Early Literacy grant for $25,525 and a $5,000 award from the Milton Freewater Area Foundation to help fund FFA activities. The board also approved community donations: $1,000 and $250 from Umapine Creamery (supporting Mac-Hi FFA and FBLA), $500 from Mark Mizer/MGM Mechanical for Mac-Hi ASB and about $200 from Walla Walla Nursery for Mother's Day flowers for Gib Olinger Elementary students. “MOTION: KELLY KESSLER MOVED TO APPROVE THE GRANTS, AS PRESENTED. SECOND: KATHY SILVA VOTE: UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED,” the record states.
The minutes do not detail any conditions on the awards; the funds were recorded as accepted by unanimous vote and will be applied to the named programs.
