Public review set for social studies curriculum candidates April 16–27; final recommendation due June 3

Director of Teaching and Learning Ryan Savage told the board that social studies teachers reviewed three curriculum options through Douglas ESD and are piloting: Teachers Curriculum Institute (TCI), National Geographic Learning and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH). The district will open a public viewing period from April 16–27, 2026 to collect feedback.
Savage said a final recommendation will be presented to the board on June 3, 2026, with purchases to occur after July 1 and a planned implementation across district buildings in fall 2027.
