Commission approves RA2 relocation plan for Buildings 27–34 at Barcroft

The Arlington Tenant-Landlord Commission voted to approve the RA2 relocation plan for Buildings 27–34 at the Barcroft site during a special session on Aug. 12.

Andrew Ferreira, chair of the commission, opened the agenda item and turned the floor to Miss Hageman, who represents Sherry Lynch and presented corrections to tenant profiles and new language to protect residents from utility-cost shocks. Hageman said the update ensures ‘‘the residents are gonna be in control of their utilities,’’ and described how periodic adjustments to utility allowances are intended to offset market-driven rate increases.

Hageman also outlined the construction phasing that will stagger renovations across roughly 35 buildings with typical renovation windows of six to nine months, noting Building 22 and 23 have completed their first phase and Building 47 (about 53 units) recently finished construction paperwork. After brief questions from commissioners, Commissioner Kristen moved to approve RA2; the motion was seconded and Chair Ferreira called the vote. The motion carried, with the transcript recording unanimous 'Aye' responses and no recorded oppositions or abstentions.

The commission recorded that, before physical relocations proceed, staff must provide a formal letter from county staff; commissioners also asked that the timing of 120‑day notices be realistic and timed to minimize tenant burden.
