The Palmyra Board of Education authorized multiple capital and maintenance expenditures at its March 25 meeting, including $1,121,553 from Capital Reserve for replacement of boilers at Palmyra High School and a new fire alarm system at Delaware Avenue School.
The board also included $484,266 for deposit into Capital Reserve intended for long-range facility plan projects and approved use of $727,620 of district surplus to supplement the March 12, 2024 referendum funds because labor and material costs exceeded earlier estimates. The minutes record a $119,808 withdrawal from Maintenance Reserve for required maintenance work and a separate request to withdraw $84,590 for repairs at Charles Street School.
Separately, the board accepted an emergency contract with Wolfschmidt Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling for an approximate $7,552 repair of a pipe outside Door 20 at Palmyra High School. The minutes indicate the district used cooperative purchasing for larger repair procurements and will present individual contracts above statutory thresholds to the board for approval.
These approvals fund capital and maintenance work the district described as necessary to meet facility needs and to supplement previously authorized referendum work.
